Conclusion, evaluation and follow-up
A theme on Samsø’s communal plant for energy production from renewable energy sources – how technology and knowledge make it possible to utilise renewable energy.
Samsø’s power supply - Conclusion, evaluation and follow-up
Conclusion
- Look at your concept maps from the beginning of the lesson plan series. Does anything need to be revised? Compare with the class you cooperate with, if applicable.
- Discuss the presentations made by the groups - on either the web or on the data projector.
Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation compares in The future of energy in Australia (PDF file, page 2) the future energy resources in two different societies with different climates and natural resources.
- Use this model to compare Samsø with your region and with that of the class you are cooperating with, if applicable.

External participants
Working with the issues of renewable energy, the pupils will discover that there are both advantages and disadvantages attached to the various sources of renewable energy. Try to invite, for instance, a farmer or a representative from the local nature conservation association or environment organisation for a debate with the class.
Communication of learning outcome
The Union of Concerned Scientists’ teaching material [Renewables Are Ready] (PDF file, page 79), presents a number of suggestions for action projects, where the pupils can communicate what they have learnt to others, via articles, exhibitions, competitions and events.

Evaluation of and conclusions on the lesson plan series
Evaluation takes place on several levels:
- Have the pupils succeeded in understanding the concept of renewable energy? This aspect is evaluated via a revision of the pupils’ concept maps.
- Do the pupils understand the utilisation of renewable energy on Samsø? This aspect is evaluated via the pupils’ posters, PowerPoints, wikis and weblogs.
- Do the pupils understand the utilisation of renewable energy on Samsø compared to the opportunities that are present in their own region? This aspect is evaluated using the model of comparison that concludes the series.
It is an obvious idea to exchange conclusions with the class you have been cooperating with, if applicable.
